EXCELLENT START FOR GSM RACING.
THIRD PLACE FOR CECOTTO AND LIDDY AT MISANO
The first heat of the weekend took place at sunset with Jonathan Cecotto in the fourth row. It was Cecotto himself who started the first race in the GSM Racing Lamborghini Huracan, after Friday’s qualifying session which saw him and Liddy set the seventh fastest time overall. Jonathan got off to a good start and the change with Liddy took about 30 minutes. The young Californian driver also kept up the pace by improving his performance every lap. “”I’m happy with our first race because we didn’t make any mistakes,”” said Jonathan Cecotto. “”Even at the driver change, which is a very delicate moment, everything went smoothly. We didn’t start very far ahead on the grid so it’s very difficult to go and attack front running cars, but the race pace was like the others and so I can be satisfied””. In turn, Liddy said: “”I am satisfied with my first race with GSM Racing. The team worked well to prepare the car for Race 1 and Jonathan performed well in the first stint of the race. During the first laps I felt a vibration that didn’t allow me to do my best laps as soon as I got into the car. Once the problem was identified I was able to make really fast laps towards the end of the race””.
A second heat that confirmed the best expectations gathered in Race 1. Patrick Liddy moved from the starting grid and immediately showed a fast drive and the same pace of the front runners. Pit in for Jonathan Cecotto who made a nice overtaking and managed to bring the team to the finish line in third position in the Pro category, fourth general. “”I’m very happy,”” said Jonathan Cecotto, “”arriving third in the Pro category is a really good result. I would like to thank all the team who worked well this week as well as my teammate Patrick. We both did a great job on the track.””
“”I am happy with this third place in our category,”” said Liddy. “”Both Jonathan and I drove well and fast and the car responded very well. I would like to thank GSM Racing Team for their work and I can’t wait to get back on track for the second round. .
Andrea Grillini, at his first experience in this championship, is also satisfied with the result:”” I was certain of the qualities of the crew and drivers and I always knew we could do well. It was still a new championship which unknown for us, but everything really went well””.
Next event in Nurburgring on 4-5 September.
